When in trouble remember to just google it. That's how I learnt Unix and the little bit of Perl I know. Also, try to learn Shell scripting (if you are going to work on Linux, nothing makes your life easier). Data manipulation becomes a breeze. I only know bits and pieces of all of those. I'm trying to learn Python now, very very slowly. I'm so thrilled you got into this stuff. haha.
